Police are investigating after a six-foot long boa constrictor escaped from a home in Deansway, Chippenham.
The snake, which is not venomous but would have a powerful bite, has not been seen since last Friday its owners have told police.
In the wild, boa constrictors kill their prey - said to be mainly rodents - with bodily pressure after first grabbing them with their teeth.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the snake to contact them on 101.
