Hundreds of families were wowed at Calne’s Fynamore School by a scooter display team.
The school held a family day on Saturday, featuring the MADD scooter display team which amazed the crowd of 500 with tricks, even bringing some of the children into the act.
Fynamore head teacher Carolyn Maddox said: “It was a great day, the kids loved the scooter displays.
“It sort of doubled as a birthday party for us. We have been open for 10 years and were going to celebrate in September but the weather was terrible so we saved it until now.
“I even had a go on a scooter myself – though I didn’t go over any ramps!”
The event, which raised £2,000 for the school, also taught the children about being safe on their scooters, something the school has tried to address in the past by trying to get a proper crossing outside its gates. Plans had reached an advanced stage for a new £43,000 crossing four years ago. But recession hit and it was put on hold.
Mrs Maddox said: “The existing crossing is very confusing and it isn’t clear whether cars should stop or not. We want to get the situation resolved before there is an accident.”
