CELEBRITY chefs are to star at Wiltshire County Show, which will again run alongside Barbury International Horse Trials on June 30 and July 1, on Nigel Bunter’s Barb-ury Estate at Rockley.

As well as being treated to an exciting preview of pre-Olympic eventing – the last time to see members of the British team in action before the Olympic Games – visitors will also be able to meet top chefs including TV cook Brian Turner, Peter Vaughan from The Bistro in Devizes, Kesh Desai from Lucknam Park, Michelin-starred chefs Michael Riemenschneider and Hywel Jones and Masterchef finalists Annie Assheton (2011) and Andrew Kojima (2012).

They will be appearing in the AGA Rangemaster cookery theatre, which will be the highlight of a food arena which will feature food producers including The Garlic Farm; Supreme Sausages; The Cotswold Cider Comp-any; Liquorice Heaven; Gastro Nicks; Wessex Pastry; Godminster Vintage; the Real Olive Company; Chococo and Cupcakes by JoJo.

Kitchen gadgets and equipment suppliers will also be there, among more than 100 retailers taking part in what will be the inaugural Country Gentlemen’s Assoc-iation (CGA) Festival of Food.

Brian Turner, who rose to fame on TV’s Ready Steady Cook, said: “I am really looking forward to coming to the Barbury Horse Trials.

“Having once ridden in a charity race at Windsor, it will be great to see some of the best riders in the world in action from the eventing scene before I take my turn in the cookery theatre.”

The Wiltshire County Show, now in its third year, is growing in popularity year on year. There will be displays of pedigree livestock, agricultural machinery, vintage cars, military vehicles, a parade of the Vine and Craven Hounds and Berks & Bucks Drag Hounds, sheep shearing and sheepdog trials, bird of prey displays and ferret and llama racing.

The official charity across the four days of the horse trials, which start on June 28, will be the Army Benevolent Fund, also known as The Soldiers Charity, which supports serving and retired soldiers and their families.

Teams from local businesses will take part in an It’s A Knockout-style competition on the Saturday in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Advance tickets for the event cost £12 per person, with under 12s going free. For tickets and details visit www.barburyhorsetrials.co.uk or call (01672) 516125.
