A Dutch lorry driver was found dead at Porte Marsh Industrial Estate in Calne after suffering a suspected heart attack.

The man, who had driven from Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, was found lying on the ground with severe facial injuries last Thursday, at around 9am.

He had been due to make a delivery to a firm when a member of the public found him. Paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

PC Alan Blake, of Calne Police, said: “Paramedics attended and conducted CPR but they couldn’t save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We believe he may have suffered a heart attack as he was getting out of the cab and fell to the ground, which would explain the facial injuries.

“Wiltshire Police has informed his family back in the Netherlands.”
