Strong winds early on Sunday caused a fence to blow down and five horses to run loose in Devizes.
The four ponies and one horse trotted away from their field in Nursteed.
They were rounded up by police into the entrance to Southbroom Junior School in Nursteed Road.
The horses were seen in Eastleigh Road, Eastleigh Close and Jackson Close.
The owner of the field, who asked not to be named, said: “It was very kind of the police to round them up.”
