Unsung heroes of Corsham have been honoured at the town council’s annual Community Awards.

The event, at the town hall, salutes those who improve Corsham, giving something back to the community.

Chris Hyde, of Corsham Sea Scouts, received the neighbourhood award; Violet Cooke was given the arts award for her work with St Bartholomew’s Drama Group; Peter Smith received the sports accolade for founding and maintaining Cor-sham Wanderers Walking Group; Corsham Primary School’s Broad-wood’s Book Club won the youth award; and Michael Carlisle won the environment award for his work with the Corsham in Bloom group.

The winners received a certificate for their hard work and dedication to Corsham.

Town councillor Ruth Hopkinson, chairman of the awards panel, said: “The town council is delighted to honour these local heroes who do so much to make Corsham a better place to live, work and visit.”
