INCREASED profits at Malmesbury-based household goods firm Dyson have pushed its owner James Dyson to 22nd in the Sunday Times Rich List 2012.

The £2.5 billion company’s profits grew by nine per cent in 2010, and sales were up from £770m to £887m. It has taken on 200 additional workers and continues to expand.

Mr Dyson, who is 65 on Wednesday, has almost doubled his family’s fortune, and is estimated to be worth £2,650m.

The family have received more than £278m in salaries and dividends since 1999. Property assets make up the rest.

Elsewhere, Bath Rugby chairman and businessman Bruce Craig made it on to the list for the third year running. The 49-year-old, in joint 267th place, amassed his £300 million fortune when he sold pharmaceutical firm Marken.

And the Marquess of Bath, of the Longleat estate, near Warminster, is worth £170 million.
