Box charity Jamie’s Farm held an open day to help promote the work carried out supporting vulnerable children from urban backgrounds.
Around 250 people visited Hill House Farm, in Ditteridge, which offers children aged eight to 18 a chance to swap the inner city for the rural life on the farm for a week.
During their stay the children, who are referred to Jamie’s Farm by their schools, improve their self-esteem in a family environment.
On Saturday a group of children who have benefited from Jamie’s Farm spoke of their experiences.
Former teacher Jamie Feilden, 31, who set-up the charity in 2008, said many people signed up to be volunteers and many also wanted to learn more about the second Cock and Bull Festival, which is due to be held at Great Chalfield Farm on the weekend of July 27-29.
