Charitable Andy Peel Cross admits it was the £14,000 sponsorship he received to run the London Marathon in memory of his father that spurred him on.
The landscape gardener, from Mildenhall, near Marlborough, completed the run in four hours and 40 minutes, raising money for The Motor Neurone Disease Association after recently losing his father to the illness.
“It was very good,” said Mr Peel Cross, 41.
“My dad was a very, very popular man and everyone has been very generous.
“I was pleased with my time because I was really struggling the last few miles; I found it really tough and hit a wall.
“It is an amazing experience to be up there for the marathon.”
Mr Peel Cross has been troubled through training after suffering a hamstring injury in January.
