A schoolgirl held a teddy tombola to raise funds for Water Aid after becoming concerned by the dried-up state of the River Kennet.
Amy Slater, nine, crosses a bridge over the river on her way to Preshute School in Manton every day with her brother William, seven.
The class four pupil, from Barton Park, grew worried after noticing the stretch of the river at Bridge Street has reduced to a dribble and in other parts has dried up altogether.
Her father Stuart, who runs Slater Drumschool in Marlborough, said: “Amy is a cute little girl who has a growing awareness and her eyes are opening up to simple things such as the river drying up.”
She chose to help the charity Water Aid, which aims to ensure everyone in the world has access to clean water and sanitation.
Her fellow pupils donated teddies to be used as prizes in the tombola and she received 200 bears. The event raised £85 and any leftover teddies will be given to other charities.
