Two Corsham men, who coach a children’s football team, were pleased to overcome injury and complete the London Marathon on Sunday.
Friends Leigh McCarron, 37, and Robbie White, 40, who run the Chippenham Under-9s football team, ran the 26.2-mile endurance event to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK.
Mr McCarron, who had been struggling with calf strain, completed the marathon in three hours and 55 minutes and Mr White, who had a knee tendon problem, finished in five hours 13 minutes.
Mr McCarron said: “It went alright and we were pleased to get round the whole course and raise money for a worthy cause.
“We were both a bit stiff afterwards but we were happy to take part again this year.”
Mr McCarron said that the pair had already raised £3,000 and hoped to top the £4,000 mark after their next fundraising event.
On Saturday, the pair will be holding a race night, an auction and karaoke evening at the Great Western, in Pound Pill, Corsham supporting Children with Cancer UK.
