Nine-year-old Molly Burrows, of Potterne, is planning to swim 100 lengths to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Molly is joining her mum, Rachel, in taking part in the charity’s annual swimathon at Marlborough Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Mrs Burrows, 40, has done the swimathon twice before but this will be the first time for Molly, a pupil at Five Lanes Primary School in Worton.

Molly swims regularly and is a member of Devizes Swimming Club.

She said: “My grandad (Robert Burrows of Birkenhead) has recently recovered from cancer and I would like to help other people like him.”

Molly, a member of Worton Brownies, is confident she will do 100 lengths and hopes to raise £100.

She said: “I love swimming and I love racing.”

Her mum said: “Molly can easily swim 50 to 60 lengths and likes to set herself a challenge.”
