HIDDEN away at the back of one of Chippenham’s most popular independent shops, a brand new cafe is set to open its doors on Saturday.
Craft retailer Phase Patch on the Causeway will launch the Sassetta Cafe a year and a half after it moved to the former Chinese restaurant.
Proprietors Faye Matthew-man and Simon Heaney said customers have been asking for somewhere to sit and have a coffee for some time.
“We’ve opened our cafe in response to demand from customers,” said Mr Heaney.
“They’ve always wanted somewhere to take a break while out shopping.”
Mr Heaney said the area will also act as a “husband dump” for shopped-out partners to sit and enjoy a treat.
“It’s ideal for those disgruntled husbands who would rather be sipping coffee and reading a paper than shopping,” he said.
