A man has been warned he could be jailed after admitting having more than a kilogramme of cannabis when he was arrested in Seend.

Jason Martin also had more than £5,000 in cash when he was detained by police on Monday, April 18 last year and also possessed an air gun when he was prohibited from doing so.

The 36-year-old, of Pilton, near Glastonbury, Somerset, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing class B drugs with intent to supply.

He also admitted having an air pistol within five years from his date of release after being sentenced to a prison term of three years or longer.

Martin denied two charges of possessing bladed articles in a public place when he was arrested on Bollands Hill, Seend.

George Threlfall, prosecuting, told Swindon crown court that the Crown did not think it necessary to seek a trial on the knife charges.

He said the defendant had just over a kilogramme of the drug as well as £5,340 in cash on his person.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Thursday, May 17 to allow the probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report and released him on bail.

He said “The fact I am granting you bail shouldn’t be taken as any indication of the final outcome of your case.”
