Teenager Kate Good-man has been banned from driving after admitting drink-driving.

Goodman, 19, of Allington Way, Chippen-ham, who works in her Mum’s shop, Magpie, pleaded guilty to the offence when she appeared at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Prosecuting, Rachel Marshall said: “It was 1.50am on April 1 and the defendant was driving home with two passengers when she lost control of the vehicle in Corsham, struck a roadside bollard and the car rolled onto its side.

“Fortunately no-one was injured.”

Goodman then failed a roadside breath test, blowing more than twice the legal drink-drive limit.

When interviewed, the teenager said she had drunk a can of Fosters lager at home before going out in Chippenham and having a large glass of wine.

After taking a taxi home she decided to get into her Peugeot 106 and went to pick up her friends.

Goodman, who represented herself, told the court she really regretted her decision to drive and conceded “it could have been a lot worse than it was”.

Magistrates disqualified her from driving for 18 months and ordered her to pay £205 in fines and costs.
