EXCITEMENT is brewing for Malmesbury schoolgirl Emily Kamp, who will appear on a BBC Two Shakespeare documentary next week.

Emily, 16, reached the finals of the national Shakes-peare recital competition, which had 2,000 entrants.

Royal Shakespeare Comp-any documentary Off By Heart, hosted by Jeremy Pax-man, marks Shakespeare’s 448th birthday.

Emily said: “The finals were absolutely brilliant.

“It was great fun and the experience was just amazing.

“I can’t wait to see it on TV and relive it all over again.”

Emily, who lives in White Lion Park, is now studying drama and maths at Malmesbury School and hopes to get into drama school to pursue her love of acting.

She reached the finals with her monologue as Shylock, from the Merchant of Venice, and for the final she performed a romantic piece from Romeo and Juliet.

The school ran a local version of the competition across each house last year before holding its own finals.

Drama teacher Beth Calland said: “It was an amazing opportunity for Emily.

“The whole competition has inspired her. The school has gained from it as well.”
