A driver delivering meat to butchers Walter Rose & Son in Devizes fell and hurt his neck when a 140lb hindquarter of beef fell on him.
The 57-year-old man, who has not been named, works for Stiles Abattoir in Brom-ham and was carrying the meat from the lorry towards the shop in Sidmouth Street when he tripped at about 8.25am on Monday.
Staff from Walter Rose advised him to lie still while they called an ambulance. Air ambulance paramedic Ross Culligan drove from police HQ in London Road, Devizes, to the injured man. The Wiltshire Air Ambulance was undergoing maintenance so an ambulance took the man to Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
John Stiles of Stiles Abattoir said the man was discharged from hospital on Monday night and had returned to work.
