The Grade I Listed Yelde Hall and historic tableau in Chippenham will re-open to the public on Thursday, April 5.
It will then be open every Thursday and Friday between 10am and 4pm.
The Yelde Hall is now part of the Chippenham Museum and Heritage Service and there are plans to restore the town lockup in the cellar and to provide an interactive display.
The lockup was used for holding prisoners passing on their way to the Assizes, and also for drunks and vagrants.
The Bailiff records in 1708 that six piratts (pirates) spent the night there in custody.
Melissa Barnett, curator at Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre said: "We are opening the hall so the public can enjoy the building.
"There will be a small exhibition of photographs of the Yelde Hall through the ages as well as the historic tableau.
"We have plans to use the space for exhibitions and displays as well as restoring the old town lock up.
"The town ‘Merryweather’ fire engine dated 1845 will also return to Chippenham in the near future and will be on display in what was the old fire station.
"This will all take time but we hope that the hall will soon become part of a vital and thriving area of Chippenham."
