The opening of a greengrocers selling locally sourced produce in Royal Wootton Bassett proved to be a sell-out success.

Ed Roberts and his wife Tracey have set up Maddisons Greengrocers, which opened in the High Street on Saturday.

The couple waited two years for the right premises and Mr Roberts gave up his job as a hotel porter to take on the role. He said: “We were overwhelmed by the support shown to us.”

The store opened at 9am with Royal Wootton Bassett mayor Paul Heaphy in attendance.

Mr Roberts, a 43-year-old father of two, said: “After the first couple of hours my heart stopped racing and it was okay. It’s a wonderful feeling running your own business.”
