More than 100 trees were planted at Priestley Primary School in Calne on Saturday in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The event was part of the Jubilee Woods project, which aims to plant six million trees to commemorate the event. All trees planted, including a sapling from an oak tree from the Royal Gardens, will be listed in the Record of Jubilee Trees, which will provide a map of the planting project.
Priestley School, together with its Children’s Centre run by Barnardos, held the day as its first family learning activity.
Headteacher Andrew Marsh-Ballard said: “We attracted lots of families from around the town. It was a family learning activity, which the school promotes, and the first activity with the Children’s Centre, school and family learning team. We hope to build on our successes, with our first family learning course taking off in the near future.”
