POLICE are still investigating an alleged assault on a 13-year-old school girl which happened in Hardenhuish Lane last Wednesday.
The girl claimed she was pushed to the ground and assaulted by three boys as she walked home from school on Wednesday afternoon.
She has identified the boys and police are working with them to establish what has happened.
The girl was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath to be examined and treated.
Detective Constable Jo Spencer is leading the investigation from Chippenham Police Station.
Neil Bagnall of Chippenham Police said: "We are continuing to investigate the details of this incident and I can confirm that some school-aged individuals are involved.
"The investigation is now in the hands of Chippenham CID. We would like to stress that this incident is not connected to any other ongoing investigations in the area.'' Police closed off Hardenhuish Lane last Wednesday while they searched the area.
There was also a heavy police presence outside Hardenhuish and Sheldon School on Thursday morning as pupils began their school day.
Colin Smith, head teacher at Hardenhuish School said: "We have been informed that the local police are investigating an alleged assault near Bristol Road and the school will cooperate fully with inquiries.
"We have been assured by police officers that the incident has not been linked to any other investigation and staff at Hardenhuish will continue to ensure that children are secure in school and supervise them as they leave the site."
