I would like to add my support to objections to the closure of the Ivy House Hotel in Marlborough.

I frequently stay at the Ivy as I fly from Clench Common airfield. The hotel is comfortable and economic. Accommodation is of a better standard than the pub rooms available at other places in and around Marlborough.

As the Ivy does not provide lunch or evening meals I also use the restaurants in the town extensively.

For a town of its size and attractiveness, Marlborough is not well supplied with hotel rooms in the centre of town. Closing the hotel will degrade the amenities of the town and have a significantly detrimental effect on local businesses as I believe has been rightly pointed out by the Chamber of Commerce.

Surely an institution as rich as Marlborough College can afford to accommodate students without degrading other facilities in the town?
