A man who went on a car crime rampage in Chippen-ham has been jailed for ten weeks.
Lee James Gawenda, 33, from Fishponds, Bristol, pleaded guilty to the theft of two motor vehicles and four offences of theft from a motor vehicle at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates heard over the weekend of April 23 and 24 Gawenda stole a Vauxhall Corsa from Avebury Road, which was later recovered, and a Vauxhall Corsa in nearby Westerleigh Close.
He also stole a stereo and CDs from a Vauxhall Corsa in Avebury Avenue, a sat nav, stereo and CDs from a Ford Fiesta in Silbury Close, a steering wheel lock from a Vauxhall Corsa in Newbury Drive and a sat nav and paper work from a Vauxhall Astra van in Wardour Close.
Detective Constable Kevin Golledge, from Melksham CID, said many of the vehicles Gawenda had targeted were smaller cars.
He said: “This offender set out with a clear intention of what he wanted to achieve.”
