Centenarian Dorothy Dagger was swept to her 100th birthday party in style, in the luxury of a Rolls-Royce. Mrs Dagger celebrated her milestone event surrounded by family and friends at Corsham Cricket Club with a party on Saturday afternoon. Her niece and nephew, Marie Burton and Lesley Ball, her only surviving relatives, presented her with a photo album of special moments from her life. Mrs Dagger, from Neston, said: “I arrived in a Rolls-Royce to the cricket club, I felt like the Queen as everyone was taking care of me and giving me lots of attention. “It was a lovely party and I felt very honoured by how many people came to see me. “I’m very lucky and grateful for the hard work of everyone who organised the party.” The 100-year-old, who was born in Bath, received more than 60 birthday cards, and one more than the others had special significance to her. She said: “The card from the Queen is lovely. “It is a special honour to receive one from her.” Mrs Dagger, who worked as a cashier, moved to Corsham in 1953 with her husband Sidney, who she married in 1941 in Larkhall, Bath. Her husband died in 1981 and Mrs Dagger said she still thinks of him very often. The party and Rolls-Royce was organised by her friends Richard and Lorna Chadwick. Mr Chadwick said: “I’ve known Dot for 55 years. We do her shopping for her and support her in any way we can. “I think for her to reach the age of 100 and still be so active is such a huge achievement.” Mrs Dagger regularly takes part in social group meetings for the over-sixties.
