I have just become the latest victim of bank card cloning. I have a lot of praise for Nationwide as they managed to identify something amiss within two days and two transactions and then contact me.
I am curious about what the council is doing to combat this very common and ever growing problem in Marlborough. Has it reconsidered its view on CCTV? I realise that CCTV cameras may not be in keeping with the town but they are a necessary evil and would go a long way to combat this menace as well as many other crimes.
Having worked as a police officer in Swindon I know how important and useful CCTV cameras are, especially ones that are actively monitored.
It would appear that the Barclays cash machine is the one that is targeted by the criminals. I believe this is mainly due to its position, field of view and lack of CCTV. I am curious about what Barclays is now doing to try combat this problem in Marlborough?
I have always been careful about using cash machines as I am aware of the risk involved in using them. However, I was still caught out. I shall now only be using cash machines inside a bank or use cash back from a supermarket. I won't be using the Barclays or HSBC cash machines in Marlborough as I consider them a high risk.
I ask everyone to be aware of this problem in Marlborough. Should they see people acting suspiciously or find that the cash machines are all out of order except one then contact the police. They only stand a chance of catching these people if they are caught in the act.
I Sims.
