Today I attended the public meeting of the Kennet and North Wilts PCT at Devizes Town Hall, having only heard about it from a relative the previous evening.

This information only became apparent when I was asked if I was going to attend the PCT meeting the following morning. It seems that my relative's information came from the Chippenham edition of the Gazette & Herald of the previous week. All very useful for Devizes residents.

Again suspicions are aroused as to the tactics of the PCT - a 10am meeting on the busiest day of the week in Devizes, with either no or poor attempts at making the event widely known.

Yet, in the sheaf of papers we were handed at the meeting, it says that at their meeting in Trowbridge on July 20 2006 it was stated that the next meeting of the Board would be at Devizes on September 14. They had 56 days to notify the public.

I think we can be forgiven for suspecting that it is all part of the PCT going through the motions of consultation. Later in the day, I met some councillors who had no prior knowledge of the meeting.
