Malmesbury's drama group is gearing up to start the town’s carnival season in style with a Showstoppers Carnival Revue Show next week.

The Athelstan Players are putting the final touches to their performance, which will include singing, dancing, sketches and a mini melodrama.

Producer, director and choreographer Christine Mace said the group was delighted to have secured a pianist after an appeal to fill the role.

She added: “We got one two weeks ago, Amy Penfold, which is absolutely brilliant.

Mrs Mace is hoping people will support the show.

She added: “We usually sell out and I hope we do again this year because everyone has put in so much hard work. The money is going back into carnival funds so it’s for a really good cause.”

The show is on August 4, 5, 6 and 7 at 7.30pm at St Mary’s Hall in the Triangle. Tickets are available from Miles Morgan Travel in the Market Cross priced £5.50 and £6.50.
