The weather influenced attendance at an event to celebrate the long history of All Cannings village hall.

Previously a men’s reading room, established more than 40 years ago – it has been used by the village for many different social occasions.

Nowadays one of the main users is the pre-school, but many of the village organisations hold their meetings there.

A big attraction at the event on Saturday, July 16 was a marvellous archive collected by Mrs Cindy Luffman, displaying many old documents and photographs recording the changes over the years.

A barbecue was on the go in the garden area as well as refreshments served in the hall, and a chance to play table tennis or boules between the showers.

Much of the hard work was done by members of the village hall committee and their partners, ably led by chairman Stuart Robinson and secretary Judith Gay.
