An alternative sports day in Rowde was enjoyed by youngsters and adults and raised money for jubilee celebrations. Youngsters showed off their skills on skateboards, scooters and bikes while people of all ages took part in sack races, wheelbarrow races and welly throwing.
The event, at the sports field on July 2, raised £350 towards funding celebrations in the village next year to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. So far about £1,000 has been raised. The next fundraiser is a pie and pud evening at the Cross Keys on September 24.
