Doctor Who’s arch-enemies the Daleks showed their lighter side on Sunday when they turned up to help the Devizes branch of the British Heart Foundation raise money.

The branch had organised the event in the grounds of Brook House in Bromham, the home of Mark and Cynthia Wilkinson, and raised £700 for heart research.

Visitors to the gardens were able to enjoy craft stalls, children’s rides and tea and cakes while listening to the 4+1 jazz band and music from Fantasy Radio.

Branch chairman Tony Batchelor said: “We are grateful to Mark and Cynthia Wilkinson for allowing us to use their garden.

“The British Heart Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and we wished to recognise this milestone in a special way.

“Fortunately the weather was kind to us and we had a really great day. A dancing dalek was a sight not to be missed”.

He added: “With 2.7m people in the UK suffering from the life-threatening effects of heart disease there is still much to do."
