The Crown Centre in Devizes will reopen fully on August 8.

The meeting place for adults in St John’s Street has been partially open for several months since a water leak in the cellar caused walls to collapse.

Repairs to the collapsed basement retaining wall are nearing an end and the centre will reopen on August 8 followed by an open day on August 20.

Sam Wilson, the centre manager, said: “We have been open for coffee and lunches but a lot of people are not coming in because they have to go round the back as the front door is not in use.

“We have not been able to hire out our rooms during the work so numbers have been a little reduced.”
