‘DRINK up thee cider’, will be the order of the evening as Bath racecourse holds its Cider Festival racenight tomorrow.

One of the course’s highlights of the season, not only will racegoers be able to enjoy seven races but also sample a host of local and national ciders across the course.

A live performance from west country legends the Wurzelsm, closes the evening.

The first race is scheduled for 5.05pm with the last race due off at 8.25pm.

At Newbury on Sunday it is Family Day meeting.

Goodwood’s five-day meeting comes to a close on Saturday with the highlight on the seven race card the Group 1 Market Insurance Nassau Stakes for fillies and mares, run over one mile two furlongs plus the Blues Square Stewards Cup, a Heritage Handicap over six furlongs.

Last year’s Nassau was won by the Sir Henry Cecil-trained Midday.

Cecil will be looking to win the Group 1 with the five year old for the second year running, the trainer also holds an entry with Principal Role.

Among other entries will be the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Crystal Capella, the mount of Ryan Moore, while northern trainer Richard Fahey comes south with Barefoot Lady, the mount of Paul Hanagan and Ballydoyle handler Aidan O’Brien has two entered, Look At Me and Misty For Me.

It’s the time of the year when the three year olds come up against older horses in the big Group races, so a tentative selection is for the three-year-old Theyskens’ Theory, trained at Manton by Brian Meehan.

The Stewards Cup once again looks to favour the bookmakers with several runners in with a shout to lift the valuable prize.

The William Haggas-trained High Standing, the mount of Moore, Hoof It, the mount of Kieran Fallon, and Edinburgh Knight could be three against the field.

Channel 4 will show the first four races beginning at 2.05pm, a race for horses who missed the cut in the Stewards Cup.

The Toyo Tyres Summer Stakes at 2.35pm sees the Stoute-trained Verdant carrying top weight.

Other meetings on Saturday are at Newmarket, Thirsk and Doncaster and at Lingfield and Hamilton in the evening.

At Newmarket, Channel 4 cameras will be at the July course for the first two races.

The opener could go to Lay Time for trainer Andrew Balding while the two year old Fillies Nursery may be won by the Kevin Ryan-trained Nagham.

The first race at Thirsk is at 2pm, an EBF Maiden Stakes for two year olds that could be won by Kimball while at Doncaster, Macs Power could go close in the six furlong Conditions Stakes.
