A skateboarder suffered a broken leg when he was struck by a car in Bishops Cannings.

Police said the 21-year-old victim, who has not been named, was skateboarding to work in Devizes at 4.45am yesterday when he was struck from behind by a vehicle and knocked from his skateboard.

His right leg was broken in two places and he was taken by ambulance to Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he under went surgery.

The collision occurred in Chandlers Lane but the driver of the car failed to stop.

The car has been described as a 4x4, possibly dark green.
