Tired of being mistaken as a mere adjunct of Devizes, Roundway Parish Council has launched its own logo to identify itself more clearly.

Roundway parish covers a area of land around the borough of Devizes but it never a clear identity of its own.

So the parish council approached Nursteed Community Primary School, the only school in its area, to get the children to come up with a logo design.

Parish council chairman Chris Callow said: “Roundway has now become a significant parish in Wiltshire and has become more visible over the past few years as the parish council has become more proactive.”

The winning design by Year 6 pupil Miles Parker-Miles incorporates the Devizes millennium white horse, which is the school’s own logo, and crossed swords symbolising the important Battle of Roundway that took place during the English Civil War in 1643.

Miles received his prize of a £25 book token and a framed copy of the logo from Coun Callow and council vice-chairman Rick Rowland at the school.
