Wiltshire Police investigating the murder of Swindon woman Sian O'Callaghan have clarified that only one body has been found and it is believed to be Sian.

A location of a second has been identified to them but no second body has yet been recovered.

A spokesman said: ''Wiltshire Police would like to make it clear that while the location of two bodies has been identified to the Senior Investigating Officer, only one body has currently been found and this is believed to be Sian O'Callaghan.

''The second body has yet to be recovered. Apologies for any confusion.''

The cab driver arrested on suspicion of kidnapping Sian O'Callaghan was named by locals yesterday as Chris Halliwell.

Former colleagues said the divorced 47-year-old was a driver at private hire firm Five Star Taxis in Swindon - which had only started up a few weeks ago.

Police cordoned off his three-bedroom semi-detached home at 12 Ashbury Avenue, Swindon, yesterday, erecting a forensics tent next to a Ford Ka in his gravel driveway.

Two police vans and five officers were guarding the house, as specialist officers probed the property.

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said the father-of-two was divorced and had been separated from his wife Lisa and children for some time.

Locals said he used to live further along Ashbury Avenue - but moved into number 12 a few years ago.

Det Supt Steve Fulcher said: "A 47-year-old man from Swindon is in custody, having been arrested for kidnap and two murders. "The location of two bodies have been identified to me by this individual, one of whom has yet to be identified formally, but I am quite clear is Sian. "I have informed Sian's family, who are obviously deeply distressed." Earlier, detectives suggested two people had been found, but a statement from Wiltshire Police issued later said: "The location of two bodies has been identified to the senior investigating officer, only one body has currently been found and this is believed to be Sian O'Callaghan. Det Supt Steve Fulcher announced the discovery of Sian's body "The second body has yet to be recovered." Miss O'Callaghan was last seen leaving Suju nightclub in Swindon on Saturday. Hundreds of people helped police search in Savernake Forest, near Marlborough in Wiltshire, from where a signal from her mobile phone had been picked up soon after she was last seen. But the body police think is hers was found by detectives searching near the Uffington White Horse chalk figure in rural Oxfordshire. An area of the road and the verge has been sealed-off and was being guarded by a number of police officers. And on Thursday afternoon police vans arrived at a house in Ashbury Avenue, Swindon, and a white tent was put up in the front garden. A site near the Uffington White Horse, in Oxfordshire, is being searched Officers searched inside and outside the property and removed items to a nearby van. A green taxi was also taken away. Detectives revealed earlier in the week that phone records put office administrator Miss O'Callaghan's mobile somewhere in Savernake Forest, 34 minutes after she left the nightclub - a journey they said could only have been made by car. Miss O'Callaghan was caught on CCTV leaving Suju, in Swindon's Old Town area, after an evening out with female friends. She lived in a flat half a mile away with her boyfriend Kevin Reape, 25. Mr Reape, who had spent the day at Cheltenham races, raised the alarm on Saturday morning when she did not return to their flat.
