The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust is appealing for witnesses to an incident where three windows were broken at its headquarters on Devizes Wharf on Saturday night.
The damage was discovered when the trust shop opened next morning. Three panes in the museum storeroom had been targeted.
Administrator Holly Streeter said: “Because they were in such a prominent position we had to get them fixed straight away.
“Roman Glass came down and repaired them but it cost us £250. That may not seem a lot, but we are a charity and things are tough for all charities at the moment.
“At this time of year this is something we could have done without. There is no CCTV down here, so we are asking anyone who might have seen anything suspicious on Saturday night to let the police know.”
Devizes police can be contacted on 0845 408 7000 or information can be left with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
