The Rattlebone Inn in Sherston is celebrating the best of British game with a ‘Game Week’ from November 15 to 20 to coincide with National Taste of Game Fortnight. Using only locally sourced meat, the menu will feature rustic dishes such as rabbit pie, as well as venison, wild boar and other game classics. The owner of the 16th- century village inn, Jason Read, said he hoped the more unusual dishes would encourage people to be adventurous with their choice of food when dining out.

He said: “We wanted to demonstrate how good game can taste and the chefs have researched old country recipes and experimented with ingredients to create the finest tasting dishes.

“We hope that this game menu will encourage diners to try things they would not usually order.”
