Parents of young children in Sutton Benger are set to benefit from a new-look baby and toddler group.

The group, which meets weekly in the village hall, has a new committee, toys and equipment.

Committee member Lisa Jones said: “Some changes have been made recently and we are trying to spread the word there is a lot going on.

“Not only do we have new toys, but we are going to have visitors coming in and a lot of different activities.”

Monthly check-ups, as well as general support, will still be given by health visitor Jan Hounsell, and a helper will serve drinks and home made cakes while the children play.

Mum Claudia Carr, who takes along her seven-month-old daughter Beatrice, said: “The baby and toddler group has a lovely welcoming atmosphere with plenty going on.

“It is a real asset for the village – parents and kids make long-lasting friendships which follow the children as they head into pre-school, primary school and beyond.”

The new committee is planning activities for the rest of the year, including a Halloween themed session, visits by professional photographers, craft days and a Christmas party.

The group is run by volunteers Sam Haysom, Lorna Clifford, Samantha West and Lisa Jones, who all live in Sutton Benger.

It meets at the village hall between 9.30am and 11.30am on Wednesdays during term time.
