Celebrity chef Peter Vaughan visited Downland School in Devizes on Friday to show the pupils what their newly renovated food technology room could produce.
Mr Vaughan, of The Bistro in the Little Brittox whose TV appearances include BBC Breakfast, was delighted with the state-of-the-art facilities at the school, which were funded by a £50,000 central government grant.
Headteacher Phil Beaumont said: “The work involved gutting the room and starting again with new units, white goods, work surfaces, cookers, you name it.
“It allows the boys space to experiment with cooking. They love it and it is such a good life skill to have.”
Downland School caters for boys aged 11 to 16 with behavioural problems.
