Mum Joanne Simpkins has said a big thank you to everyone who helped her raise over £400 for her disabled teenage daughter.

Miss Simpkins held a tabletop sale last Thursday to raise money for a hoist to enable her daughter Danielle to use a hot tub for hydrotherapy.

In addition, a reader has offered a hoist although it is not yet known whether it would be appropriate for Danielle.

Miss Simpkins, a single parent who lives in Broomfield, Chippenham, said: “It was a great day, so many people turned out to support us. We raised £438.50 in the sale, which is amazing.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came, as well as my friends Haley and John Ross and Waste Not Want Not of Hungerdown Lane who donated books.”

She said she is now waiting to discover if the hoist is the right make.

“I’ve got my fingers crossed because it would be so perfect if it was the right thing for Danielle,” she said.

Miss Simpkins looks after 13-year-old Danielle with help from her mother and stepfather.

She said: “It’s so nice when people want to help me and Danielle out.

“I’m really grateful to everyone who came along or helped out on the day.”

Danielle has Rett Syndrome, a neurological disorder.
