FRANK SMART is contemplating life without speedway.

He is not sure where his future lies and whether he will ride a speedway bike competitively again.

The 30-year-old Western Australian was banned by the Speedway Control Board on Thursday for 12 months, but not fined, after failing a drugs test prior to the Swindon versus Exeter League match at Blunsdon on June 22, that was eventually rained-off.

The positive sample revealed amphetamines.

Exeter's Roger Lobb who also tested positive at the same time as Smart has vowed to fight his case all the way and has requested that a second sample is tested.

Smart, who had soared to the top of the Swindon Robins averages with a host of early season big scores admitted his guilt.

He decided that his best course of action was to write a letter to the Speedway Control Board and accept whatever punishment they deemed fit.
