THE Warwick Deeping Appreciation Society, which was founded this year, is a small group of people very interested in the delightful books written by Warwick Deeping (1877-1950).
Probably the best-known was Sorrel and Son written in 1925 (which went into at least 41 editions and was still in print in the 1970s). It was made into a film in 1933.
Several of his other 70 books were being reprinted over 20 years after they were first published and we have been informed that librarians still receive requests for certain titles today.
The aim of the society is to contact other people who enjoy reading Warwick Deeping's books and to find out more about the life and works of this once enormously popular novelist. Anyone interested in helping us in this venture is invited to write to me or phone 0208 367 0263.
