MANAGER Colin Todd will be happy if Bart Griemink stays out of the headlines this season.

Griemink won many plaudits for his performance between the sticks against Colchester.

But Todd would rather see the likes of Gary Alexander and Giuliano Grazioli grabbing the attention at the other end of the field.

Todd said: What is good for us is that Bart is showing a decent level of consistency.

I have got to say that when he came in after the summer he was a bit out of condition.

But he has got his weight down and it has helped him no end. He is mobile, his agility is very good and his reflexes are great.

But to be fair, I do not want to keep seeing him attract all of the headlines because that would mean there is something not quite right in the team. I would prefer him to go unnoticed.

Todd is delighted with the confidence Griemink has helped to install both in the back four and the remainder of the team.

But the Dutch keeper refuses to get carried away with the form he showed in pre-season and the campaign opener against Colchester.

Griemink said: I try not to get too carried away if I have a good game because you can always make a mistake in your next game.

You can have ten good games in a row, have one bad one and you are remembered for that.

I'll just stay focused and prepare for the Reading game as I would any other.

At 6ft 4in and 15st, Griemink is an imposing figure.

But the Dutchman doesn't share Peter Schmeichel's preference for bawling at his players, instead doing his best to reassure them throughout the 90 minutes.

I try to let them know that I'm behind them and I try to be in the right place at the right time, said Griemink. I try to reassure them and if they make a mistake I tell them, just as they tell me if I make a mistake.

You can't compare reserve football with first team football. I'm really enjoying it at the moment and looking forward to the remainder of the season.
