A LANDLADY who stabbed her partner in the stomach with a knife after a drunken argument admitted to breaching the peace.

Donna Ryder, 29, who runs the Lion and Fiddle pub in Hilperton, admitted the attack when she appeared at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court in Trowbridge last Thursday.

Ryder was taken into custody at Chippenham police station after police received an emergency call alerting them to a stabbing at the pub.

She previously faced charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and intentional wounding, which were dropped after her partner refused to support the prosecution case.

In a previous court appearance on September 28, Ryder was released on unconditional bail which allowed her to move back in with her partner at the pub on Devizes Road.

Amanda Sawetz, prosecuting, said emergency services arrived at the pub in the early hours of the morning to find Ryder's partner with a stab wound to his stomach and a blood-stained knife.

Miss Sawetz said Ryder immediately spoke to the police when they arrived saying: "It's all right, it's me, I did it."

Miss Sawetz said: "Her partner was taken to The Royal United Hospital in Bath and discharged himself saying she had stabbed him while drunk and he was not prepared to support any charges.

"She has admitted causing a breach of the peace and they are now reconciled."

Tony Bignall, defending, said Ryder's partner tried to get to Chippenham police station after discharging himself from hospital in a bid to free his girlfriend.

He said Ryder's partner arrived at the police station and told officers he wanted her to be released.

Mr Bignall said: "She is very pleased to have the matter over and accepts her behaviour did fully constitute a breach of the peace."

Ryder was bound over for £300 to keep the peace for six months.
