PUB landlady Donna Ryder appeared in court in connection with an incident in which she stabbed her partner with a knife.

Police were called to the Lion and Fiddle in Devizes Road, Hilperton, on September 27 after a 999 call alerted them that someone had been stabbed.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and Miss Ryder's partner was rushed to the Royal United Hospital in Bath with a knife wound to the stomach. Miss Ryder was taken to Chippenham police station.

Just hours after being admitted to hospital, Miss Ryder's partner, who has not been formally identified, discharged himself and went to Chippenham to try to free her.

Miss Ryder, 29, who runs the Lion and Fiddle pub with her partner, admitted causing a breach of the peace at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court in Trowbridge.

Speaking after her court appearance, she said she wished the incident had never happened.

She said: "I did not mean to do it, it was an accident. It should never have got as far as it did, even the magistrates said there was no case. People who know me, know I couldn't do anything like that. It has been a nightmare and I thought it was all over but it isn't.

"I don't wish to go over it all again, it is over now and we never split up."

Miss Ryder's admission to breaching the peace comes after more serious charges of grievous bodily harm and intentional wounding were dropped.
