ANTOINE van der Linden is happy to be Town's Mr Versatile.

The Dutchman arrived in the summer as a central defender but has found himself pushed forward as an emergency striker in recent games.

He is no stranger to the role.

"When I was a kid back home I started up front and also played as a left winger. Not only that but I also played in midfield," he said.

Gradually he found himself playing further and further back but he is still comfortable in the attacking third of the field.

"I was happy with my performance at Millwall in the cup game but I still think there are areas that I need to improve," he said.

"It all depends what the gaffer wants. If he sees me as a striker then I will need to work on improving my right foot for example. As a striker you need to be able to get shots in with both feet."

Van der Linden has made 10 starts for Town since the start of the season but he has found himself squeezed out of the starting line-up by Andy King's decision to revert to a flat back four, with Alan Reeves and Richard Dryden the favoured central defenders.

"I just want to play football and I will play wherever the gaffer needs me. As long as I feel comfortable in that position and believe it will benefit the team then I am happy," he said.
