THE Swindon Town Supporters Club is demanding answers to serious questions about the club's future.

A hush has descended upon the County Ground with no official comment regarding Terry Brady's future, a new stadium on the Front Garden or whether the club's backers will pour money in or pull out.

Sections of the County Ground faithful are becoming increasingly angry, feeling they are being kept in the dark.

Some fans are refusing to buy a season ticket as they do not know whether they will have a club to watch next season.

The club is remaining tight-lipped, with no-one prepared to offer an insight into when the club's fate may be decided.

But it is now more than a month since Swindon Borough Council held a special meeting to discuss the future of the club.

Chairman Terry Brady and his backers had grown impatient about the supposed lack of progress regarding a new stadium on the Front Garden site.

Councillors heard Mr Brady plea for backing and at the end of the meeting councillors voted to grant Mr Brady 'preferred developer status' for the site. The Brady team left the meeting saying they needed clarification as to what that actually meant.

A meeting was held on Monday but no decision has been forthcoming.

Nigel Bennett, the Swindon Town Supporters Club spokesman said: "This uncertainty cannot be allowed to go on indefinitely.

"At the moment all we have is rumour and speculation.

"The worst thing that can happen for this football club is that it drags on into the summer.

"That is no help to anybody. The manager needs to make plans for next season. Players' contracts expire at the end of June. Will they want to stay if they don't know the future of the club?

"We are also at that time of year when people are thinking about renewing season tickets.

"That is a considerable commitment, so it needs resolving as quickly as possible for a lot of reasons."

Sources close to the club are adamant that the situation is 'very close' to being resolved, possibly by the end of this week, but supporters are becoming increasingly irritated by so-called deadlines passing without news.
