What has John Murphy done to Swindon Supermarine?

A stunning 4-0 home win against fellow relegation battlers Racing Club Warwick on Saturday underlined the club's rejuvenation.

Before the former Cheltenham boss took the Hunts Copse reins a month ago, a Marine defeat on a Saturday afternoon was something of a formality. Not any more.

Murphy's troops are not only picking up points, they're handing out beatings.

The most obvious difference between the Marine of old and the new look version is the quality of players Murphy has introduced.

In recent signings Keith Knight and Pete Macklin Marine have two players capable of carving defences open.

Both men helped themselves to a goal against the midlanders, with Tate Hulbert completing the scoring with a fine double.

Hulbert a striker reborn under Murphy's guidance opened the scoring on 15 minutes, volleying home after good work from Macklin

Former Bath forward Macklin doubled the lead eight minutes later, converting Knight's cross.

Hulbert grabbed his second on 63 minutes, as Marine continued to dominate after the interval.

The burly frontman should have sealed his hat-trick five minutes later, but failed to convert with the goal at his mercy.

It was left to creative spark Knight to complete the scoring. The veteran midfielder lashed home from the edge of the box 10 minutes from time.

The win, which puts Marine just one win from the safety zone, completes a remarkable turnaround for the Hunts Copse outfit.

The club have picked up eight points from a possible 15 under Murphy's stewardship, compared to just three points from 42 before his arrival.

Just six weeks ago, a managerless Marine lost the corresponding Warwick fixture 3-1.

Incredibly, only three players who started that game featured on Saturday a real reflection of the John Murphy revolution.
