Cirencester continued their recent good form with a comprehensive 4-1 win over high-flying Solihull Borough.

The game came to life on 25 minutes when Adam Mayo found David Godley in space and he jinked past three defenders to blast a powerful shot into the top left-hand corner of the net.

It took only two minutes for Cirencester to add to their tally when Jimmy Carter got to the by-line and sent over a powerful low cross which Mike Payne could only parry.

Adam Mayo, breaking into the box, followed up and fired home a tremendous shot from 12 yards.

Cirencester were totally in charge and Mayo and Godley again combined to break down the Solihull defence, but this time Mayo's final effort was wide of the target.

On 38 minutes Cirencester got their third goal when another telling through ball from Mayo put Godley in the clear and he made no mistake from 12 yards.

Solihull came out for the second half pushing extra men forward but this left gaps at the back and Cirencester should have added at least two more .

First, Carter was completely clear on goal but Payne pulled off a fantastic save, then Carter and Mayo linked up again, ending with Mayo clear in the area only for Payne to again pull off a fine save from the first shot and from the rebound by Andy Mayo.

Solihull did get some reward for their efforts on 56 minutes when Cirencester failed to clear a cross from Simon Hollis and Peter Sutton slotted home from six yards.

The visitors went looking for a way back into the game and had two good chances when Chris Smith placed his shot wide when clear and Kevin Sawyer did well to save bravely at the feet of Derek Hall.

Both sides made changes and Ciren created another chance when Andy Minturn found Carter who flicked the ball on to leave James Blastland completely clear eight yards out. However, his measured shot crept the wrong side of the post.

Five minutes from the end Cirencester put the game beyond doubt when Godley got himself to the by-line to send over an inch-perfect cross for Carter to head in at the far post.
