HEREFORD player-manager Phil Robinson was proud of his players and felt they had given everything during their narrow defeat at the hands of Town.

He thought another cup shock was on the cards after the Bulls had led 2-1 at the break but a second league scalp just wasn't to be.

Robinson (pictured left) said: "At half-time you're that close to achieving something fantastic, another giant-killing act.

"Gavin (Williams) scored an absolutely cracking goal after we'd gone behind and then Ian Wright's headed us in front. We played very well in the first half."

"I couldn't have prepared them any better to go out for the second half.

"But it was a bit of skill and fantastic goal from their left wing-back that's got them back into the game.

"That was a big disappointment at the time but I still felt at that point in the game we had enough to hold on and even go on and win the game.

"We didn't quite manage it sadly.

"The following from Hereford was fantastic and they cheered us on throughout.

"I think the lads gave a good account of themselves and it would have been great if we'd managed to get through to the next round.

"I really don't think we could have done any more.

"But I think we can go away feeling very positive and take strength from the performance.

"We gave everything and that's what the supporters and the management demanded."
